The author studies the relations between Kähler-Einstein metrics inside and on the boundary of a quasi-projective manifold. Consider a projective manifold \(\overline{X}\) and a simple normal crossing divisor \(\overline{D}\) of \(\overline{X}\). If \(K_{\overline{X}}+ \overline{D}\) is ample, there exists a unique Kähler-Einstein metric \(\omega_{X_\infty}\) on the quasi projective manifold \(X= \overline{X}\backslash \overline{D}\) with Poincaré growth near the boundary \(\overline{D}\). The Kähler-Einstein metric \(\omega_{X_\infty}\) can be described too as the limit on \(X\) of a sequence of orbifold Kähler-Einstein metrics. The author obtains the following results: Theorem 1.2. Let \(\overline{X}\) be a projective manifold and \(\overline{D}\) a simple normal crossing divisor on \(\overline{X}\) with ample \(K_{\overline{X}}+ \overline{D}\). Then, as \(m\to \infty\), the orbifold normalized Kähler-Ricci flow \(\omega_{X_m}(t)\) starting from \(\omega_{X_m(0)}= \widehat{\omega}_{X_m}\) converges to the complete normalized Kähler-Ricci flow \(\omega_{X_\infty(t)}\) starting from \(\omega_{X_\infty}(0) = \widehat{\omega}_{X_\infty}\) in \(C^\infty(K\times [0,+\infty))\) for any compact set \(K\) in \(X\). Theorem 1.3. Let \(\overline{X}\) be a projective manifold and \(\overline{D}\) be a simple normal crossing divisor on \(\overline{X}\). Consider a multi-index \(I=(i_1,i_2,\dots, i_q)\) with \(1\leq i_1<i_2< \dots <i_q\leq p\) such that \(\overline{D}^I\) is neither empty nor a finite union of points. If \(K_{\overline{X}}+ \overline{D}\) is ample, then the limit on the boundary portion \(D^I\) of the sequence \((\omega_{X_m})_m\) of the orbifold Kähler-Einstein metrics as \(m\to \infty\) is the complete Käher-Einstein metric \(\omega_{D^I_\infty }\) on \(D^I\) of negative Ricci curvature. Furthermore, under the same condition, it follows that, as \(m\to \infty\), the sequence \((\omega_{X_m(t)})\) on the boundary portion \(D^I\) of the orbifold normalized Kähler-Ricci flow converges to the complete normalized Kähler-Ricci flow \(\omega_{D^I_\infty}(t)\) of \(D^I\) in \(C^\infty(K\times [0,\infty))\) for any compact subset \(K\subset D^I\).
