The main result of the paper under review is that if \(m\in\mathbb{N}\) is the square of a sufficiently large even integer, then there exists an Antoine's necklace \(X\subset\mathbb{R}^3\) of multiplicity \(m\) and a uniformly quasiregular map \(f: \mathbb{R}^3\to\mathbb{R}^3\) whose Julia set \(J(f)\) is \(X\), and furthermore, \(J(f)\) is the closure of the repelling periodic points of \(f\). Quasiregular maps are a natural generalization in the real higher-dimensional setting of holomorphic functions in the plane. First examples of uniformly quasiregular maps with interesting dynamical behavior and with non-empty branch set were given in [\textit{T. Iwaniec} and \textit{G. Martin}, Ann. Acad. Sci. Fenn., Math. 21, No. 2, 241--254 (1996; Zbl 0860.30019)]. In their examples, the Julia sets are Cantor sets and the Fatou sets are attracting basins. It is still an open question whether the Julia set of a uniformly quasiregular map is the closure of the set of repelling periodic points. \textit{H. Siebert} [Fixpunkte und normale Familien quasiregulärer Abbildungen (Diss.). CAU Kiel (2004)] showed that under certain conditions the Julia set of some uniformly quasimeromorphic map \(f\) is equal to the closure of the set of the repelling periodic points of \(f\). In [\textit{A. Fletcher}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 143, No. 6, 2543--2557 (2015; Zbl 1366.37106)] it was shown that if the Julia set \(J(f)\) of a uniformly quasiregular map \(f\) is a tame Cantor set, then the repelling periodic points are dense in \(J(f)\). In the paper under review, the authors give an affirmative answer for some wild Cantor sets.
