Let \(\mathcal{M}^{k}\) be the cone of \(k\)-monotone functions on \((-1,1),\) i.e., the cone of all functions whose \(k\)th divided differences are non-negative for every selections of \(k+1\) distinct points in \((-1,1),\) and denote by \(\mathbb{S}_{p}^{\alpha,\beta}\) the class of all functions \(f\) such that \(\| w_{\alpha,\beta}f \|_{\mathbb{L}_{p}}=1,\) where \(w_{\alpha,\beta}(x) := (1+x)^{\alpha}(1-x)^{\beta}\) is the classical Jacobi weight. For the weighted Ditzian-Totik modulus of smoothness \(\omega_{\varphi}^{k}(f;\delta)_{w_{\alpha,\beta},\mathbb{L}_{q}}\), with \(\varphi(x)=\sqrt{1-x^2}\), the exact behavior of \(\sup_{f \in \mathcal{M}^{k} \cap \mathbb{S}_{p}^{\alpha,\beta}} \omega_{\varphi}^{k}(f;\delta)_{w_{\alpha,\beta},\mathbb{L}_{q}}\) is determined in terms of \(\delta\) for \(1 \leq p, q \leq \infty\) and \(\alpha, \beta > -1/p\) (if \(p < \infty\)) or \(\alpha, \beta \geq 0\) (if \(p=\infty\)).
