Poisson wavelets on \(n\)-dimensional spheres (Q2258142)

The author introduces and characterizes Poisson wavelets which form a new class of wavelets on an \(n\)-sphere. The advantage of this type of wavelets over some of the other wavelets on spheres is that the construction is explicit. The author derives Gegenbauer expansions of the Poisson wavelets and proves results about their space localization. It is also shown that Poisson wavelets can be treated as wavelets derived from approximate identities and two inversion formulae for wavelet transforms are given.
