This paper is devoted to the study of front propagation problems for the reaction-diffusion equation and the forced mean curvature flow. Among the many results obtained in this paper, the existence of traveling waves for the reaction-diffusion equation \[ \varepsilon u_t=\varepsilon \Delta u+{1\over \varepsilon} f(u)+a(y,u) \] involving a small parameter \(\varepsilon\) is proved by using variational methods, and uniform bounds on the speeds are obtained as well. The convergence of traveling waves to the generalized traveling waves of the forced mean curvature flow is also obtained.
