Let \((X,d)\) be a complete cone metric space (in the sense of [\textit{L.-G. Huang} and \textit{X. Zhang}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 332, No. 2, 1468--1476 (2007; Zbl 1118.54022)]) over a solid cone \(P\) and \(T: X\to X\) be such that there exists a mapping \(A: P\to P\) with \(d(Tx,Ty)\preceq Au\) for all \(x,y\in X\) and some \(u\in\{d(x,y),d(x,Tx),d(y,Ty),d(x,Ty), d(y,Tx)\}\). Let, moreover, \(A\) be nondecreasing and subadditive, \(A\theta=\theta\), \(\sum_{i=0}^{\infty}\|A^iu\|<\infty\) for all \(u\in P\) and \(A\), as well as \(B\) given by \(Bu=\sum_{i=0}^{\infty}A^iu\), be continuous at \(\theta\). The authors prove that such \(T\) is a Picard mapping. Examples are presented showing that this conclusion cannot be obtained by some known fixed point results.
