In earlier articles [see e.g. Zap. Nauchn. Semin. Leningr. Otd. Mat. Inst. Steklova 69, 157-170 (1977; Zbl 0367.76085) and the article reviewed avove (Zbl 0559.76028] the author constructed approximation methods in order to solve the problem of motion of a drop. Here, these methods are given their foundations. Different from another paper by the author [Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 227, 1071-1074 (1976; Zbl 0358.76068)] the volume of the drop is not obtained in the process of solution but given before hand.
