The main result of this paper is that there is no holomorphic section for the natural projection from the Teichmüller curve \(V(\Gamma)\) to the Teichmüller space \(T(\Gamma)\), where \(\Gamma\) is an elementary torsion-free Fuchsian group. This extends work of \textit{J. Hubbard} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. A 274, 978--979 (1972; Zbl 0228.32010)] and \textit{C. J. Earle} and \textit{I. Kra} [Contribut. to Analysis, Collect. of Papers dedicated to Lipman Bers, 107--124 (1974; Zbl 0307.32016)] to the case where \(\Gamma\) is of infinite type. This result is achieved by investigating consequences of the existence of such a section; a path leading through so-called puncture forgetting maps, the little Teichmüller space of asymptotically conformal classes and the existence of projections on Bers spaces of holomorphic quadratic differentials, and ending with explicit calculations to show that such consequences cannot occur when \(\Gamma\) is as above.
