Let \(\lambda_{p}(x,c,\kappa)=\lambda_{p}(x)=\sum_{n \geq 0}\frac{(-c/4)^{n}}{n!(\kappa)_{n}}x^{2n}\) be the generalized and normalized Bessel functions. The author establishes a general form of Jordan-type double inequality, namely, \[ B_{2N}(x)+\lambda(r^2-x^2)^{N+1}\leq \lambda_{p}(x)\leq B_{2N}(x)+\mu(r^2-x^2)^{N+1}, \tag{1} \] for \(\kappa\geq 1/2\), \(c\in [0,1]\) and \(N\geq 0\) is a natural number and \(0<x\leq r\leq \pi/2\). Equalities hold in (1) if and only if \(x=r\). Here, \(B_{2N}(x)=\sum_{n=0}^{N}b_{n}(r^2-x^2)^n\) and \(b_{n}=(\frac{c}{4})^{n}\frac{1}{N!(\kappa)_{n}}\lambda_{p+n}(r)\), \(n=0,1,2,\dots\). In the case, where \(\kappa>0\), \(c\leq 0\) and \(0<x\leq r<\infty\), (1) holds, when \(N\) is even, whereas the reverse inequalities hold in (1) for \(N\) odd. Furthermore, \(\lambda=b_{N+1}\) and \(\mu=\frac{1-\sum_{n=0}^{N}b_{n}r^{2n}}{r^{2(N+1)}}\) are the best constants in (1). Using this result the author obtains general forms of Jordan type inequalities for \(\frac{\sin x}{x}\) and \(\frac{\sinh x}{x}\). The author establishes also new infinite series for \(\frac{\sin x}{x}\) and \(\frac{\sinh x}{x}\).
