Let \(C\) be a non-hyperelliptic curve of genus \(4\) over the complex numbers. Denote by the same symbol \(C\) the image of the curve under the canonical embedding in \({\mathbb{P}}^3\). Then \(C\) is contained in a unique quadric surface \(Q\), which is smooth when \(C\) admits two non-isomorphic trigonal line bundles and is a quadric cone when \(C\) admits only one such line bundle. In either case one can associate to \(C\) a nodal cubic threefold as the rational image of \({\mathbb{P}}^3\) by the \(5\)-dimensional complete linear series of cubics containing \(C\). This threefold has been described in various ways and is known as the Donagi-Izadi cubic threefold (see \textit{E. Izadi} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 462, 93--158 (1995; Zbl 0819.14017)], \textit{R. Donagi} [Contemp. Math. 136, 55--125 (1992; Zbl 0783.14025)]). Now consider the Brill-Noether locus of stable bundles of rank \(2\) and canonical determinant and let \({\mathcal W}^2\) denote the closure of this locus in the moduli space of (S-equivalence classes of) semistable bundles. It was proved by \textit{W. M. Oxbury}, \textit{C. Pauly} and \textit{E. Previato} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 350, No. 9, 3587--3614 (1998; Zbl 0898.14014)] that \({\mathcal W}^2\) is isomorphic to the Donagi-Izadi cubic threefold corresponding to \(C\). In the case when \(Q\) is smooth, a new proof of this, using a moduli space of stable sheaves on \(Q\), was given by the author of the present paper in [``Moduli of stable sheaves on a smooth quadric in \(\mathbb P_3\)'', \url{arxiv:0810.4392}]. This proof is now extended to the case when \(Q\) is a quadric cone, using a parameterisation of certain bundles on the Hirzebruch surface \({\mathbb{F}}_2\).
