The main result of the paper is that for a nonempty, closed and strongly convex domain \(A\) in a locally compact geodesic space, the following three conditions are equivalent: (i) \(A\) is compact; (ii) \(A\) has the fixed point property for continuous mappings; (iii) the lion always wins the discrete Lion-Man game played in \(A\).
