    A quasi-Cartan matrix is a matrix \(A\in \mathrm{Mat}(n\times n,\mathbb{Z})\), such that \(a_{i,i}=2\) for \(i=1,\dots, n\) and \(A\) is symmetrizable, that is, there exists an integer diagonal matrix \(D\) with \(d_{i,i}>0\), such that \(DA\) is symmetric. By applying a procedure called inflation algorithm, there follows that a quasi-Cartan matrix can be reduced to its canonical form. The authors deduce an estimate to the number of inflations that are needed to obtain a canonical form.
