The author explores a method for constructing new auto-Bäcklund transformations for Hamiltonian systems. His approach is to use ideas from hyperelliptic curve cryptography to construct such transformations and identify new integrable systems with higher-order integrals of motion. In particular, the author focuses on the Hénon-Heiles system. He uses an application of a standard arithmetic on divisors of a genus-two hyperelliptic curve to get new auto-Bäcklund transformations for the Hénon-Heiles system. Some background on hyperelliptic curves and the associated algebra of divisors is presented as well as a brief discussion of the Jacobian group for the curve. Explicit formulae for arithmetic on genus-two curves are provided. The author then applies these ideas to the Hénon-Heiles system to get new auto-Bäcklund transformations. He also considers some related systems to which these methods apply. Theorems are stated, but no explicit proofs are given. The reader should be aware that this paper demands more than a minimal background in the algebraic geometry of hyperelliptic curves. For the entire collection see [Zbl 1412.37003].
