The paper is devoted to a study of the existence and non-existence of limit cycles surrounding a linear node at the origin for the planar polynomial differential systems in the form \[\dot{x}=\lambda x+P_n(x,y), \quad \dot{y}=\mu y+Q_n(x,y),\] where \(P_n\), \(Q_n\) are homogeneous polynomials of degree \(n\), and \(\lambda \mu >0\). By using polar coordinates the authors derive several conditions for the non-existence of a such limit cycle and one condition for the existence of at most one limit cycle.
