    Let \(\Lambda^*_{r,k}(n)=\sum_{d\delta =n}\mu^*_ r(d)\log^ k\delta\) where \(\mu^*_ r(n)\) is the function of Möbius type defined by \(\mu^*_ r(n)=1\) if \(n=1\), \(\mu^*_ r(n)=0\) if \(p^{r+1}| n\) for some prime p and \(\mu^*_ r(n)=(-1)^{\Omega (n)}\) if \(n=\prod p_ i^{\alpha_ i}\), \(0\leq \alpha_ i\leq r\), \(\Omega (n)=\sum \alpha_ i\). In this paper the authors obtain first an estimate of the mean order of the function \(\mu^*_ r(n)\) and an asymptotic formula for \(\sum_{n\leq x}\Lambda^*_{r,k}(n)\) with an error term of order \[ x \exp (-C \log^{3/5}x(\log \log x)^{-1/5}),\quad C>0, \] by the theory of the Riemann zeta-function and Perron's formula. Besides, from a variant of the \textit{T. Tatuzawa} and \textit{K. Iseki} formula [Proc. Japan Acad. 27, 340-342 (1951; Zbl 0043.274)] an asymptotic formula related with \(\Lambda^*_{r,k}(n)\) is proved using elementary methods. This formula coincides with Selberg's asymptotic formula for \(r=k=1\).
