Let V be a set of s distinct points in the projective n-space, I the ideal of V in \(R=k[X_ 0,...,X_ n]\), and \(0\to F_{n-1}\to...\to F_ 0\to I\to 0\) a minimal resolution of I over R. Under the hypothesis that the s points are in generic position, i.e. that the Hilbert function \(H(A,t)=\dim_ kA_ t\) of \(A=R/I\) is equal to \(\min\{\binom{n+t}{n},s\}\), results of the author [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 60, No.3, 273-288 (1989; Zbl 0702.13013)] show that \(F_ i\) is a direct sum of \(\alpha_ i\) copies of \(R(-(d+i))\) and \(\beta_ i\) copies of \(R(-(d+i+1))\), where d is the initial degree of I. The author studies \(\alpha_ i\) and \(\beta_ i\) more in detail. In particular, she completely determines them when \(s=\binom{d-1+n}{n}+1\) and no \(d+1\) of the s points lie on a hyperplane.
