In geometry it is an interesting question whether a given geometric object can be transformed into another by a certain class of transformations. Symmetries are special cases of transformations, which leave the object invariant. In this paper, the authors investigate affine transformations of ruled rational surfaces. They achieve an answer to the problem of affine equivalence and a classification of the symmetries, by working directly on the rational parametric form; i.e., without the costly application of implicitization.
