The authors review recent work on methods for evaluating the time evolution of matrix-product states in finite quantum systems. Five different time evolution methods which are used to solve the time dependent Schrödinger equation are discussed, including the time-evolving block decimation, MPO \(W^{I,II}\) method, the global Krylov method, the local Krylov method, and the time dependent one and two site variational principle. Examples are provided demonstrating the different time evolution methods. These examples include calculating the dynamical structure factor of a XXZ spin chain, the cooling of a Hubbard chain in the canonical ensemble, the melting of Néel order on a 2D lattice, and out of time order correlations on an interacting spin chain at infinite temperature.
