This paper concerns the following error feedback regulator problem for the heat equation: \[ \left\{\begin{array}{lll} & w_t(x,t)=w_{xx}(x,t)+\lambda w(x,t), & x\in [0,1], \ t\ge 0,\\ & w_x(0,t)=U(t), \ \ w_x(1,t)=D(t), & \ t\ge 0,\\ & e(t)=y_{\mathrm{out}}(t)-R(t), & \ t\ge 0, \end{array} \right. \] where \(w(t,x)\) is the state, \(\lambda>0\) is a constant, \(U(t)\) is the control input, \(y_{\mathrm{out}}(t)=w(1.t)\) is the regulated output, and \(D(t)\) and \(R(t)\) are two finite sums of linear combinations of sine and cosine of \(t\). An adaptive controller for the problem is presented by virtue of the motion planing and the backstepping method.
