Generalized Szász-Mirakjan type operators via \(q\)-calculus and approximation properties (Q2287677)

The authors define the \(q\)-analogue of the following sequence of operators introduced in [\textit{A. Aral} et al., Numer. Algorithms 77, No. 2, 313--326 (2018; Zbl 1408.41016)]: \[ \tilde{S}_n^{\rho}(f;y)=e^{-\alpha _n(y)}\sum_{k=0}^{\infty }\frac{(\beta_n(y))^k}{k!}\left(f\circ \rho ^{-1}\right)\left(\frac{k}{n}\right). \] Here \(\rho\) is a continuously differentiable function on \([0,\infty)\) such that \(\rho(0)=0\) and \(\inf _{y\in [0,\infty)}\rho '(y)\geq 1\), and \(\alpha_n\), \(\beta_n\) are sequences of functions defined on a subinterval of \([0,\infty)\). The new sequence is denoted by \(\tilde{S}_{n,q}^{\rho}\), and depends on both sequences of functions \(\alpha_{n,q}(y)\), \(\beta_{n,q}(y)\) defined now on \(\tilde{I}\subset [0,\infty)\). Then, the authors study the convergence properties of these new operators in a weighted space, and obtain the order of approximation in terms of a weighted modulus of continuity introduced in [\textit{A. Holhoş}, Gen. Math. 16, No. 4, 99--110 (2008; Zbl 1199.41130)]. Moreover, they obtain a Voronovskaya type result. Finally, they give some graphical examples, where they compare the approximating behaviour of both \(\tilde{S}_n^{\rho}\) and \(\tilde{S}_{n,q}^{\rho}\) only for the illustrative function \(f(y)=e^{-y}\).
