The domain of the Baum-Connes assembly map for a group \(G\) is defined as an inductive limit over the cocompact \(G\)-invariant subsets of a universal proper \(G\)-space \({\mathcal E}G\). The codomain, the $K$-theory of the reduced group C*-algebra, may also be written as an inductive limit in a natural way, using elements of the reduced C*-algebra that are supported in a fixed finite subset of \(G\) and that are projections or unitaries up to some small \(\varepsilon>0\); this is the quantitative $K$-theory of the reduced group C*-algebra with its canonical filtration. The quantitative version of the Baum-Connes assembly map is a morphism between these inductive systems. The quantitative version of the Baum-Connes conjecture asks for this map to be an isomorphism of inductive systems of abelian groups. There are variants of the quantitative Baum-Connes assembly map and conjecture with coefficients, for groupoids and for coarse spaces, and for maximal as opposed to reduced crossed products. This article deals with the quantitative version of the maximal coarse Baum-Connes assembly map. Assume that a group has a cocompact universal proper \(G\)-space. Then the inductive system for the domain of the Baum-Connes assembly map becomes isomorphic to a constant inductive system. This implies the following stability property of the inductive system: for each index \(i\) in the underlying directed set of the inductive system, there is a larger index \(j\) so that any element of the \(i\)th group that goes to zero in the inductive limit already goes to zero in the \(j\)th group. If the quantitative Baum-Connes assembly map is an isomorphism, then the quantitative $K$-theory of the reduced group C*-algebra inherits the same stability property. This is called the persistence approximation property. It is a necessary condition for the quantitative Baum-Connes assembly map to be invertible, provided the group has a cocompact universal proper action. For the coarse Baum-Connes assembly map, this cocompactness assumption is replaced by the condition that the underlying metric space should be coarsely uniformly contractible. Assuming this and that the quantitative coarse Baum-Connes assembly map is an isomorphism, then it follows that the quantitative $K$-theory of the Roe C*-algebra has the stability or persistence approximation property mentioned above. Using known results about the quantitative coarse Baum-Connes conjecture, the persistence approximation property follows for coarsely uniformly contractible metric spaces with a fibred coarse embedding into Hilbert space. In particular, this applies to box spaces of groups that have the Haagerup property and a cocompact universal proper \(G\)-space. Along the way, this article carries over some results known for the group case to the quantitative maximal coarse Baum-Connes assembly map. Another result of the paper concerns a quantitative assembly map for a family of metric spaces. This gives a sufficient criterion for the maximal coarse Baum-Connes assembly map of a box space to be an isomorphism.
