Let \((\mathbb{K},|\cdot|)\) be a complete ultrametric-valued field and \((\mathbb{E},\delta)\) an ultrametric space. For \(A,B\subset \mathbb{E}\), put \(\delta(A,B) =\inf\{\delta(a,b):a\in A$, $ b\in B\}\). A subset \(F\) of \(\mathbb{E}\) is called uniformly open if \(\delta(F,\mathbb{E}\setminus F)>0\). It turns out that a nonempty set \(F\subset \mathbb{E}\) is uniformly open iff its characteristic function \(\chi_F\) is Lipschitz iff \(\chi_F\) is uniformly continuous. Given a normed \(\mathbb{K}\)-algebra, the spectral norm is defined by \(\|f\|_{sp}=\lim_{n\to \infty}\|f^n\|^{1/n}.\) Denote by \(\mathcal{B}\) the algebra of all bounded uniformly continuous \(\mathbb{K}\)-valued functions on \(\mathbb{E}\) with the uniform norm \(\|\cdot\|_0\) on any subalgebra of \(\mathcal{B}\). A unital Banach \(\mathbb{K}\)-algebra \(S\subset \mathcal{B}\) is called semi-compatible if (i) every \(f\) in \(S\) with \(\inf_{x\in\mathbb{E}}|f(x)|>0\) is invertible in \(S\); (ii) \(\chi_F\in S\) iff \(F\) is uniformly open for every \(F\subset \mathbb{E}\). If, further, (iii) \(\|\cdot\|_{sp}= \|\cdot\|_{0}\) on \(S\), then \(S\) is called \(C\)-compatible. The paper is concerned with the study of Banach algebras of bounded Lipschitz functions from \(\mathbb{E}\) to \(\mathbb{K}\). As the authors write in the abstract: ``Considering them as a particular case of what we call \(C\)-compatible algebras we study the interactions between their maximal ideals or their multiplicative spectrum and ultrafilters on \(\mathbb{E}\). We study also their Shilov boundary and topological divisors of zero. Furthermore, we give some conditions on abstract Banach \(\mathbb{K}\)-algebras in order to show that they are algebras of Lipschitz functions on an ultrametric space through a kind of Gelfand transform.''
