      The authors aim to develop a sharp variant of Klainerman's commuting vector field method for solutions to scalar wave equations on a general class of asymptotically flat spacetimes. The metrics considered are certain long range perturbations of Minkowski space, which enjoy a standard local energy decay assumption. The authors prove sharp peeling estimates for solutions to both linear and nonlinear (null form) scalar fields, in Theorems 1.19 and 1.23. The peeling estimates are in the forms like \(|\phi|\le C (1+t+r)^{-1}(1+|t-r|)^{-1/2}\), where \(\phi\) is a solution to the wave equations, and \(t,r\) are the analogs of the time and radius in the Minkowski space-time.
