A standard graded Artinian algebra \(A = R/I\) (where \(R\) is a polynomial ring over a field \(k\)) is said to have the Weak Lefschetz Property (WLP) if there is a linear form \(\ell\) for which the induced map \(\times \ell : [A]_i \rightarrow [A]_{i+1}\) has maximal rank for all \(i\). A special case that has garnered much attention is when \(I\) is generated by powers of linear forms, especially when the linear forms are general ones. The case where \(I\) is an almost complete intersection, meaning that the number of minimal generators is one more than the codimension, has been studied in several papers. Now assume that \(k\) has characteristic zero, \(R = k[x_0, \dots, x_{2n}]\), and \(I = (L_0^d,\dots,L_{2n+1}^d)\). The WLP of such quotients was studied by the first author, \textit{U. Nagel} and the reviewer [Algebra Number Theory 6, No. 3, 487--526 (2012; Zbl 1257.13003)], who posed the following conjecture to complete the study: if \(n \geq 4\) then \(R/I\) fails to have the WLP if and only if \(d > 1\). Furthermore, if \(n=3\) then \(R/I\) fails to have the WLP when \(d=3\). The first author proved this when \(d=2\). \textit{U. Nagel} and \textit{B. Trok} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 372, No. 12, 8849--8870 (2019; Zbl 1426.13008)] recently proved it for \(n \gg 0\) and \(d \gg 0\). The last part of the conjecture was proved by \textit{R. Di Gennaro} et al. [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 89, No. 1, 194--212 (2014; Zbl 1290.13013); ``Comments on the WLP in degree 3 for 8 cubes in \(\mathbb{P}^6\)'', Preprint, \url{hal-02321118}]. In this paper the authors prove it when (i) \(4 \leq n \leq 8\) and \(d \geq 4\), and (ii) \(d = 2r\), \(1 \leq r \leq 8\) and \(4 \leq n \leq 2r(r+2)-1\). The methods extend the approach introduced by the first author, Nagel and the reviewer, converting to a problem about fat points and using Cremona transformations.
