Relative Cohn path algebras (or Cohn-Leavitt algebras) are algebraic counterparts of relative graph \(C^*\)-algebras. These algebras encompass both Cohn path algebras and Leavitt path algebras. The authors realize a relative Cohn path algebra as a partial skew group ring. They define an \(E\)-relative branching system of a directed graph \(E\) and a subset of the set of regular vertices of \(E,\) show how it induces a representation of the associated relative Cohn path algebra, and exhibit necessary and sufficient conditions for faithfulness of such representation. This improves previous results formulated for Leavitt path algebras of row-finite graphs with no sinks.
