Jacobi in 1837 identified the two extremities of a chord passing through the second focus of a Keplerian ellipse to two conjugate points, the ellipse being considered as a geodesic of the Jacobi-Maupertuis metric. This work presents this property in a symmetric case, and describes the geodesic bifurcation associated to this conjugacy. The cited preprint 18 by \textit{R. Montgomery}, ``Minimizers for the Kepler problem'', which also develops the same property, is published in the same issue of the journal [Qual. Theory Dyn. Syst. 19, No. 1, Paper No. 31, 12 p. (2020; Zbl 1462.70006)].
