Dual characterizations of the containment of two sets defined by means of convex set-valued maps and convex cones are provided in terms of the epigraphs of conjugate functions of scalarization functions composed with the mentioned set-valued maps. Characterizations of weakly and properly efficient solutions of set-valued optimization problems are derived as applications of the main results. Several examples illustrate the theoretical results.
