A Lyapunov-type inequality is obtained for the boundary value problem defined by the differential equation \[ y''(x)+\lambda\rho(x)y(x),\; x\in(0,1),\; \rho(x)>0,\;\rho(x)\in L(0,1) \] with the boundary conditions \[ y(0)=y'(1)+ky(1)=0, \] and with the jump conditions \[ y(a_j-0)=y(a_j+0),\; y'(a_j-0)=y(a_j+0)+\lambda r_jy(a_j-0), \] where $j=\overline{1,n}$, $0\le a_1,\ldots<a_n\le 1$. For a particular case, optimization problems are considered as an application. There is no distribution specific in the paper.
