The paper at hand considers a model for the evolution of two fluids separated by a sharp interface. The authors consider the corresponding free boundary problem, i.e. the position of the interface is part of the solution of the problem. The fluids are described by incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with (potentially) different densities and viscosities. The interface condition includes surface tension. The main result is a weak strong uniqueness principle for this evolution problem, i.e. as long as a strong solution exists any energy dissipative varifold solution (with the same initial data) coincides with the strong solution. Indeed, the notion of varifolds is proven not to introduce any non-uniqueness in the sense that the only mechanism for non-uniqueness is the appearance of singularities in the strong solution. The proof of the main result is based on a clever construction of a relative energy functional that takes into account position errors of the interface.
