In this paper, a survey of fixed point results for selfmaps fulfilling Pata-type conditions [\textit{V. Pata}, J. Fixed Point Theory Appl. 10, No. 2, 299--305 (2011; Zbl 1264.54065)] is performed. Section 1 is introductory. In Section 2, the basic starting point of this survey is given. Let \(\Psi\) denote the class of all functions \(\psi:[0,1]\to [0,\infty)\) such that \(\psi\) is increasing and \(\lim_{t\to 0}\psi(t)=\psi(0)=0\). Fix the constants \(\Lambda\ge 0\), \(\alpha\ge 1\), \(\beta\in [0,\alpha]\), and the function \(\psi\in \Psi\). Then, take a metric space \((X,d)\), fix a distinguished point \(x_0\in X\), and denote (\(||x||=d(x,x_0)\), \(x\in X\)). Given the selfmap \(T\) of \(X\), let us introduce the notations, for \(x,y\in X\): \(A(x,y)=(1/2)[d(x,Tx)+d(y,Ty)]\); \(B(x,y)=(1/2)[d(x,Ty)+d(y,Tx)]\); \(C(x,y)=\max\{d(x,y),A(x,y),B(x,y)\}\); \(M(x,y)=1+||x||+||y||+||Tx||+||Ty||\). Theorem. Suppose that one of the conditions below is fulfilled for each \(\varepsilon\in [0,1]\) and each \(x,y\in X\): (cond-1) \(d(Tx,Ty) \le (1-\varepsilon)A(x,y)+\Lambda \varepsilon^\alpha \psi(\varepsilon) M(x,y)^\beta\) (cond-2) \(d(Tx,Ty) \le (1-\varepsilon)B(x,y)+\Lambda \varepsilon^\alpha \psi(\varepsilon) M(x,y)^\beta\) (cond-3) \(d(Tx,Ty) \le (1-\varepsilon)C(x,y)+\Lambda \varepsilon^\alpha \psi(\varepsilon) M(x,y)^\beta\). Then \(T\) has a unique fixed point in \(X\). In Section 3 and Section 5, some cyclic and, respectively, coupled/tripled fixed point results of this type are considered. The objective of Section 4 and Section 7 is to discuss many Pata-type fixed point results over ordered metric spaces and \(b\)-metric spaces, respectively. In Section 6, the authors comment many Pata-type fixed point results for multivalued maps. Finally, in Section 8, an open question is posed relative to the possibility of extending or not the 1974 Ćirić fixed point statement (see [\textit{B. E. Rhoades}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 226, 257--290 (1977; Zbl 0365.54023)]) to such a context.
