The author of this article considers the Chern-Simons-Schrödinger system in two dimensions. It is given by \[ -\Delta u+ u+\lambda\left(\frac{h^2(|x|)}{|x|^2}+\int_{|x|}^\infty \frac{h(s)}{s}u^2(s)\;\mathrm{d}s\right)\cdotp u=|u|^{p-2}u \] where \(x\in\mathbb{R}^2\), \(\lambda>0\), \(p\in (2,4)\), and the function \(h(s)\) is given by \[ h(s)=\frac{1}{2}\int_0^s ru^2(r)\;\mathrm{d}r. \] Here, the solution \(u\) of this system shall belong to \(H_r^1(\mathbb{R}^2)\) which denotes the set of radially symmetric functions on the Sobolev space \(H^1(\mathbb{R}^2)\). It is shown that the system has no solution when \(\lambda\) is large. Further, the author shows that there are two radial solutions when \(\lambda\) is small which is achieved by using the decomposition of the Nehari manifold and the adaptation of the fibering method. Additionally, qualitative properties for the energy of the solutions as well as a variational characterization of the extremal values of \(\lambda\) are provided. In sum, the author improves some recent results from the paper by \textit{A. Pomponio} and \textit{D. Ruiz} [Calc. Var. Partial Differ. Equ. 53, No. 1--2, 289--316 (2015; Zbl 1331.35326)].
