Let \(C\) be a bounded subset of a Banach space \(X:=(X,\|\cdot\|)\) and let \(T:C\to C\) be a nonexpansive mapping, that is, \(\|Tx-Ty\|\le\|x-y\|\) for all \(x,y\in C\). The two main results of the paper are the following. (1) Suppose that \(\{s_n\}\subset[0,1)\) satisfies \(\lim_ns_n=1\) and \(\sum_n|s_{n+p}-s_n|/(1-s_n)<\infty\) for all \(p\ge1\) and \(s_nx\in C\) for all \(x\in C\) and \(n\ge1\). Suppose that \(\{x_n\}\) is defined by: \(x_0\in C\) and \(x_n:=s_{n-1}Tx_{n-1}\) and \(\{x_n\}\) contains a convergent subsequence. Then \(T\) has a fixed point. (2) Suppose that \(x_0\in C\) and \(\{s_n\}\subset[0,1)\) satisfies \(\lim_ns_n=1\) and \(\sum_n|s_{n+p}-s_n|/(1-s_n)<\infty\) for all \(p\ge1\) and \((1-s_n)x_0+s_nx\in C\) for all \(x\in C\) and \(n\ge1\). Suppose that \(\{x_n\}\) is defined by \(x_n:=(1-s_{n-1})x_0+s_{n-1}Tx_{n-1}\) and \(\{x_n\}\) contains a convergent subsequence. Then \(T\) has a fixed point.
