In this paper the authors study the space of \(L^p\) harmonic \(1\)-form on totally real submanifolds in a complex project space \(\mathbb{C}P^n\). Recall that a differential \(1\)-form \(\omega\) on a Riemannian manifold \(M\) is \(L^p\) harmonic if its Hodge Laplacian \(\Delta\omega=0\) and has finite \(L^p\) norm \(\int_M|\omega|^p<\infty\). Let \(\Sigma\) be a \(k\)-dimensional, \(k\geq 3\), complete noncompact totally real submanifold in \(\mathbb{C}P^n\). The first result of this paper is a vanishing theorem which states that for suitable \(p\) belonging to an interval depending only on \(k\), if the trace-less second fundamental form \(\Phi\) of \(\Sigma\) is sufficiently small \(\|\Phi\|_{L^k}<\delta\) for some positive constant \(\delta=\delta(k)\), then there is no nontrivial \(L^{2p}\) harmonic \(1\)-form on \(\Sigma\). The second result of this paper is a finiteness theorem, which states that if the \(L^k\) norm of the second fundamental form is finite, then the dimension of the space of \(L^{2p}\) harmonic \(1\)-forms on \(\Sigma\) is finite for the same \(p\) as in the first result. The proof uses a result that a totally real immersion \(\phi:\Sigma\to \mathbb{C}P^n\) has an isotropic lift \(\bar{\phi}:\Sigma\to \mathbb{S}^{2n+1}\) via the Hopf map \(\pi: \mathbb{S}^{2n+1} \to \mathbb{C}P^n\) and the isotropic lift preserves the second fundamental form. This can be used to derive a Sobolev-type inequality for totally real submanifolds in a complex projective space \(\mathbb{C}P^n\).
