Leavitt path algebras of ultragraphs unify Leavitt path algebras over graphs and Cuntz-Krieger algebras associated to infinite matrices. The authors extend \textit{X.-W. Chen}'s construction of representations of Leavitt path algebras of graphs to Leavitt path algebras of ultragraphs [Forum Math. 27, No. 1, 549--574 (2015; Zbl 1332.16006)]. They build such an representation from a branching system. They use their construction to characterize irreducible representations of ultragraph Leavitt path algebras arising from perfect branching system and to improve the characterization of faithfulness of Chen's irreducible representations. They also characterize perfect, permutative, irreducible representations of an ultragraph Leavitt path algebra.
