For a directed graph \(E\) and a field \(K\), denote by \(L_K(E)\) the Leavitt path algebra of \(E\) over \(K\). The authors show various results on the graded structure of \(L_K(E)\) and on the graded irreducible representations of this algebra. After describing the structure of the graded one-sided minimal ideals in terms of Laurent vertices and line points, the authors present a description of the graded socle of \(L_K(E)\) as a direct sum of graded matrix algebras of a special type. The authors also obtain a characterization of the graphs \(E\) such that \(L_K(E)\) has the property that all the graded simple modules are finitely presented. In addition, they show that every one-sided ideal of \(L_K(E)\) is graded if and only if the graph \(E\) is acyclic (this also characterizes the von Neumann regularity of \(L_K(E)\)). Finally they are able to characterize the Leavitt path algebras which are graded one-sided self-injective. Various of the graded properties studied here were previously studied in the non-graded setting by different authors.
