Let \({\mathcal L}({\mathcal H})\) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on a complex Hilbert space \({\mathcal H}\). Given a positive integer \(m\), an operator \(T\in{\mathcal L}({\mathcal H})\) is an \(m\)-isometry if \[\displaystyle\sum_{k=0}^{m}(-1)^{m-k} \binom{m}{k} T^{*k}T^k=0.\] A strict \(m\)-isometry is an \(m\)-isometry which is not an \((m-1)\)-isometry. Among other things, the authors characterize all \(m\)-isometries on \(\mathbb{R}^2\) and show that, if \(T\in{\mathcal L}({\mathbb{R}^2})\) is an \(m\)-isometry, then \(m=1\) or \(m=3\) and \(T=A+Q\) where \(A\) is an isometry and \(Q\) is a nilpotent operator of order \(2\) that commutes with \(A\). They also discuss \(m\)-isometries on \(\mathbb{R}^n\) and on \(\mathbb{C}^n\). They show that \(m\)-isometries on \(\mathbb{R}^n\) preserve volumes, and show the admissible sets on the unit circle to be the spectrum of an \(m\)-isometry on \(\mathbb{C}^n\). Finally, the reproduce similar ideas of \textit{A. Aleman} and \textit{L. Suciu} [Integral Equations Oper. Theory 85, No. 2, 259--287 (2016; Zbl 1372.47014), Proposition 5.2] to obtain a way to construct a strict \((m+1)\)-isometry, using a weaker condition than strict \(m\)-isometry.
