The main aim of the authors is to give a ``unconditional'' proof of the classification of discrete automorphic representations of the group \(\mathrm{GSp}_4\) over a number field in terms of Arthur parameters. This classification was stated by \textit{J. Arthur} in an expository article [in: Contributions to automorphic forms, geometry, and number theory. Papers from the conference in honor of Joseph Shalika on the occasion of his 60th birthday, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, USA, May 14--17, 2002. Baltimore, MD: Johns Hopkins University Press. 65--81 (2004; Zbl 1080.11037)] under some conditions, in particular the fundamental lemma for twisted weighted orbital integrals of \(\mathrm{GL}_{4}\times \mathrm{GL}_{1}\), relative to an outer automorphism, proved shortly later by \textit{D. Whitehouse} [Astérisque 302, 291--436 (2005; Zbl 1097.11025)]. In this paper, the proof is based on the similar classification for isometry groups [\textit{J. Arthur}, The endoscopic classification of representations. Orthogonal and symplectic groups. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2013; Zbl 1310.22014)] and the (twisted) stable trace formula. The ingredients are a suitable (then simplified) version of the work of [\textit{C. Moeglin} and \textit{J.-L. Waldspurger}, Stabilisation de la formule des traces tordue. Vol. 1. Basel: Birkhäuser/Springer (2016; Zbl 1361.11004)] and several available results on the local Langlands correspondence for \(\mathrm{GSp}_4\) and functoriality for \(\mathrm{GL}_4\). It includes a classification of twisted endoscopic data of the group \(\mathrm{GL}_N\times \mathrm{GL}_1\) (\(N\in {\mathbb N}^*\)) and a proof of the surjectivity of the geometric endoscopic transfer for a simple twisted endoscopic datum of this group. The authors end proving the compatibility of the local Langlands correspondences for \(\mathrm{Sp}_4\) and \(\mathrm{GSp}_4\) with respect to the restriction of representations from \(\mathrm{GSp}_4\) to \(\mathrm{Sp}_4\).
