This paper was motivated by the following question: for which partially ordered sets \(X\) does there exist a local Noetherian unique factorization domain (UFD) \(R\) with a dimension preserving saturated embedding from \(X\) to \(\mathrm{Spec}(R)\)? The authors construct the desired UFD, which is based on the construction of R. C. Heitmann, to obtain a complete local UFD satisfying the condition of question. They show that: For integers \(n_{1}, n_{2}, \dots, n_{k}\) \(2<n_{1}<n_{2}<\dots<n_{k}\), there exists a local UFD \(A\) such that \(A\) has maximal chains of prime ideals of lengths \(n_{1}, n_{2}, \dots, n_{9}\) which are disjoint except at their minimal and maximal elements.
