For a topological space \(X\), let \(X_\delta\) denote the \(G_\delta\)-modification of \(X\), which is the space equipped with the topology generated by all \(G_\delta\)-subsets of \(X\). In this paper, the author constructs a normal countably tight \(T_1\)-space \(X\) such that \(t(X_\delta)>2^{\aleph_0}\). This result answers the question asked in [\textit{A. Dow} et al., Acta Math. Hung. 158, No. 2, 294--301 (2019; Zbl 1438.54039)]. Moreover, the author shows that (1) for every countably tight space \(X\), \(t(X_\delta)\) is at most the least \(\omega_1\)-strongly compact cardinal and (2) if there is no weakly Mahlo cardinal \({<}2^{\aleph_0}\) and there is no \(\omega_1\)-strongly compact cardinal below a cardinal \(\nu\), then there is a normal countably tight \(T_1\)-space with \(t(X_\delta)\geq\nu\). The proofs are done by an interesting analysis of fine ultrafilters over \(\mathcal{P}_\kappa\lambda\).
