The authors fully characterize all holomorphic isometries from the complex unit disc \(\Delta \) to the product \(\Delta \times \mathbb{B}^n\) of the unit disc and the complex unit ball \(\mathbb{B}^n\) (\(n\geq 2\)). Further they construct a one-parameter family of mutually incongruent such holomorphic isometries. They prove first that, given a unitary matrix \(U\in \mathrm{U}(n+1)\) there is such a holomorphic isometry \(f=(f_1,f_{2,1},\ldots ,f_{2,n})\) such that \[ U\bigl(f_1(w),f_{2,1}(w),\ldots ,f_{2,n}(w)\bigr)^T=\bigl(w,f_1(w)f_{2,1}(w),\ldots ,f_1(w)f_{2,n}(w)\bigr)^T\quad (w\in \Delta ). \] Conversely for such a holomorphic isometry \(f=(f_1,f_{2,1},\ldots ,f_{2,n})\) there is a unitary matrix \(U\in \mathrm{U}(n+1)\) such that \[ U\bigl(f_1(w),f_{2,1}(w),\ldots ,f_{2,n}(w)\bigr)^T=\bigl(w,f_1(w)f_{2,1}(w),\ldots ,f_1(w)f_{2,n}(w)\bigr)^T\quad (w\in \Delta ). \] The authors also prove that, for such a holomorphic isometry \(f=(f_1,f_{2,1},\ldots ,f_{2,n})\), there is a rational function \(R:\mathbb{P}^1\to \mathbb{P}^1\) such that \(R(f_1(w)=w\). This rational function \(R\) is related to the unitary matrix \(U=(u_{ij})\) as follows \[ R(z)=\gamma \prod _{j=2}^{n+1}\frac{z-\frac{1}{\bar u_{jj}}}{z-u_{jj}}. \] Hence construction of appropriate unitary matrices leads to holomorphic isometries.
