The Fourier transform of a rotationally invariant absolutely integrable function can be expressed by the classical Poisson-Bochner integral formula which involves Bessel functions. The main result of the paper is a generalization of that formula so as to yield a representation of the Fourier transform for arbitrary radially symmetric temperate distribution. This is done by analytic continuation with respect to the index of the involved Bessel functions. To that end the authors consider the analytic continuation of the Bochner transform with respect to the complex parameter. The method is applied to the wave equation, and to the Euler-Poisson-Darboux equation. In particular, the deduction of the fundamental solution of the Euler-Poisson-Darboux operator is different than the ones given in [\textit{E. C. Young}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 16, 355--362 (1966; Zbl 0154.35805); \textit{S. Delache} and \textit{J. Leray}, Bull. Soc. Math. Fr. 99, 313--336 (1971; Zbl 0209.12701); \textit{J. Barros-Neto} and \textit{F. Cardoso}, Ann. Mat. Pura Appl. (4) 188, No. 3, 497--515 (2009; Zbl 1175.35086)].
