This paper presents a characterization of the polynomials that are cyclic for the shift operator on anisotropic weighted Dirichlet (Hilbert) spaces on the bidisk. The authors give a full characterization for irreducible polynomials with no zeros on the bidisk. A crucial role is played by the size of the zero set of a polynomial on the 2-dimensional torus, the distinguished boundary of the unit bidisk. In [\textit{C. Bénéteau} et al., Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 368, No. 12, 8737--8754 (2016; Zbl 1358.32008)] a complete classification of the cyclic polynomials in isotropic Dirichlet spaces is given. Here this classification result is extended to the anisotropic setting.
