The authors present criteria for local uniform non-squareness of Orlicz-Lorentz function spaces \(\Lambda _{\varphi ,\omega }[0,\gamma )\) with \(\gamma \leq \infty ,\) where \(\varphi \) is an Orlicz function and \(\omega \) is a nonnegative weight. To formulate precisely the respective criteria, the authors consider several cases depending on parameters \(\gamma \), \(\alpha\) and \(\beta \), where \(\alpha =\sup \{ t\geq 0:\omega ( t) >0\} \) and \(\beta =\sup \{ u\geq 0:\varphi ( u/2) =\varphi ( u) /2\} .\) For example, the Orlicz-Lorentz space \(\Lambda _{\varphi ,\omega }[0,\infty )\) is locally uniformly non-square if and only if \(\int_{0}^{\infty }\omega ( t)\, dt=\infty ,\) the function \(\varphi \) satisfies the condition \(\Delta _{2}\) (suitable to the measure), and \(\varphi ( u/2) <\varphi ( u) /2\) for every \(u\) (Theorem 2)\(.\) The cases when \(\gamma <\infty \) are discussed in Theorems 3 and~4. The authors admit in their study the widest possible class of convex Orlicz functions. Clearly, the respective criteria for Orlicz function spaces could be deduced and this is done in Chapter~3. Recall that criteria for non-squareness and uniform non-squareness of Orlicz-Lorentz function spaces \(\Lambda _{\varphi ,\omega }\) have been presented in [\textit{P. Foralewski} et al., J. Inequal. Appl. 2013, Paper No. 32, 25 p. (2013; Zbl 1291.46011)]. Thus, the results of the present paper complement the research relating to different types non-squareness in Orlicz-Lorentz function spaces.
