The deformation space of complex projective structures on a compact Riemann surface $X$ of genus $g \geq 2$ is identified by the choice of a Bers section to the holomorphic cotangent bundle of the Teichmüller space $T_{g}$. The monodromy map $\mathcal{Q}$ defines, for every complex projective structure on $X$, a representation of $\pi_{1}(X)$ into $\operatorname{PSL}(2,\mathbb{C})$ and thus an element of the $\operatorname{PSL}(2,\mathbb{C})$-character variety (representations of surface groups up to conjugacy). It is known since the work of \textit{W. M. Goldman} [Adv. Math. 54, 200--225 (1984; Zbl 0574.32032)] that character varieties have a symplectic structure. Kawai's theorem states that the complex symplectic form on the cotangent bundle of the Teichmüller space is the pullback by the monodromy map of the complex symplectic form of the $\operatorname{PSL}(2,\mathbb{C})$-character variety [\textit{S. Kawai}, Math. Ann. 305, No. 1, 161--182 (1996; Zbl 0848.30026)]. This paper extends Kawai's theorem to the case of orbifold Riemann surfaces. It also generalizes Goldman's theorem that relates in the same way the symplectic form of the Weil-Peterson metric on the Teichmüller space and the Goldman symplectic form on the $\operatorname{PSL}(2,\mathbb{R})$-character variety. The proof essentially relies on an explicit computation of the differential of the monodromy map $\mathcal{Q}$. This is interpreted as a nonabelian analogue of the Riemann bilinear relations arising from the isomorphism between the Jacobian variety of a Riemann surface and a $\mathbb{C}$-character variety.
