In this short communication the author announces some stability results on holomorphic vector bundles over the twistor space of a compact hyper-Kähler manifold. More precisely, by a result of Kaledin and Verbitsky, if a holomorphic vector bundle \(E\) over the twistor space \(Z\) of a compact hyper-Kähler \(4\)-manifold \((M,g)\) is stable along the generic fibers of the holomorphic fibration \(\pi: Z\rightarrow{\mathbb C}P^1\) (with respect to the Zariski topology on \({\mathbb C}P^1\)) then \(E\) is stable along \(Z\) (see Proposition 1 in Section 1). The author demonstrates that the converse fails by exhibiting a counterexample, namely a stable but fiberwise non-stable holomorphic vector bundle over the twistor space of an algebraic \(K3\) surface (see Section 2). Then an improvement the Kaledin-Verbitsky theorem is exhibited by appropriately replacing stability with irreducibility (see Theorem 1 in Section 3) which already admits a partial converse (see Theorem 2 in Section 3). The understanding of holomorphic vector bundles over a twistor space is probably best motivated by the central role played by these objects in the ADHM construction of Yang-Mills instantons.
