Let \(I\) be a closed interval of \(\mathbb{R}\), let \(B\) be a Banach space, and let an exponent function be a measurable function \(p:I\to[1,\infty)\) such that \(p^+_I:=\mathop{\mathrm{ess\:sup}}_{x\in I}p(x) \infty\) and \(p^-_I:=\mathop{\mathrm{ess\:inf}}_{x\in I}p(x)\). For a measurable function \(f:I\to B\), the modular \(\varrho_{p(\cdot)}\) is defined by \[ \varrho_{p(\cdot)}(f):=\int_I \|f(x)\|_B^{p(x)}\,dx, \] and the Luxemburg-Nakano norm is given by \[ \|f\|_{L_{p(\cdot)}(I,B)}:=\inf\big\{\lambda0: \varrho_{p(\cdot)}(f/\lambda)\le 1\big\}. \] The variable Bochner-Lebesgue space \(L_{p(\cdot)}(I,B)\) consists of all measurable functions \(f:I\to B\) for which \(\varrho_{p(\cdot)}(f)\infty\). Let \({\mathcal Q}=\{Q\}\) be a finite partition of \(I\) by disjoint non-degenerate intervals, let \(p\) be an exponent function defined on \(I\), and let \(p_Q\) be given by \[ \frac{1}{p_Q}=\frac{1}{|Q|}\int_Q\frac{1}{p(x)}\,dx, \] where \(|Q|\) is the Lebesgue measure of \(Q\). For the Borel \(\sigma\)-algebra \(\mathbb{B}_I\) restricted to \(I\subset\mathbb{R}\), the \(p(\cdot)\)-Riesz variation of a vector measure \(G:\mathbb{B}_I\to B^*\) is defined by \[ \mathbf{V}_I^{p(\cdot)}(G,B^*):=\sup_{\mathcal Q}\sum_{Q\in{\mathcal Q}} \frac{\|G(Q)\|_{B^*}^{p_Q}}{|Q|^{p_Q-1}}, \] and the space of vector measures of bounded \(p(\cdot)\)-Riesz variation is given by \[ \mathrm{RBV}_{p(\cdot)}(I,B^*):=\big\{G: \mathbf{V}_I^{p(\cdot)} (G)\infty\big\}. \] The quotient space \(\mathbf{RBV}_{p(\cdot)}(I,B^*):=\mathrm{RBV}_{p(\cdot)}(I,B^*)/{\mathcal S}\), where \({\mathcal S}\) is the space of all constant vector measures, is equipped with the norm \[ \|G\|_{\mathbf{RBV}_{p(\cdot)}(I,B^*)}:=\inf\big\{\lambda0: \mathbf{V}_I^{p(\cdot)}(G/\lambda)\le 1\big\}. \] The paper is devoted to studying the linear functionals of variable Bochner-Lebesgue spaces \(L_{p(\cdot)}(I,B)\) in terms of the variable exponent Riesz bounded variation spaces \(\mathbf{RBV}_{q(\cdot)}(I,B)\) of vector measures, where \(\frac{1}{p(x)}+\frac{1}{q(x)}=1\) for almost every \(x\in I\).
