Approximation of the integrated density of states on sofic groups (Q2339213)

Instead of directly investigating the spectral properties of self-adjoint operators on discrete structures which involve hard problems, one can rather study the integrated density of states which contains a large amount of information about the spectrum of the operator. The authors show that the associated integrated densities of states can be approximated by finite volume counterparts. The main section is the third one, which displays approximation results in the random setting, and which refers to the standard mathematical tool of random dynamics.
