The Hahn weight function, the Krawtchouk weight function and the Jacobi weight function give rise to orthogonal polynomials, and a certain space is defined where these orthogonal polynomials of degree n with respect to to the weight function exercise their influence. Moreover, these three orthogonal polynomials are closely related. For instance, in case of one variable, the Hahn polynomials can be defined with the Jacobi polynomials as a generating function. There is also an approach of this generating function that is invoked to define a family of Hahn polynomials, we may refer to citation [11] [\textit{S. Karlin} and \textit{J. L. McGregor}, Scripta Math. 26, 33--46 (1961; Zbl 0104.29103)] and [12] [Theory Appl. spec. Funct., Proc. adv. Semin., Madison261--288 (1975; Zbl 0361.60071)], of the present paper, respectively, in this regard. These are the basic initiations that appear to have prompted the author for various investigations. A connection, in the present paper, between the Jacobi polynomials and the Hahn polynomials of several variables is explored and as a result of which the author could derive a number of properties for both families of polynomials. It is also established that the Hahn polynomials appear as connection coefficients between several families of orthogonal polynomials in the space mentioned above. The closed-form formula in Theorem 4.4 is entirely based on a different method than the one discussed for the reproducing kernels for the Hahn polynomials studied for the Lancaster problem of characterizing canonical correlation coefficients of the Dirichlet multinomial distribution. Further, the Poisson kernels for the Hahn polynomials and the Krawtchouk polynomials are shown to be negative.
