Cell average image transform algorithms with exact error control (Q2346274)

The work is presenting non-separable two-dimensional multi-resolution algorithm based on Harten's cell average. The goal of the paper is to present and analyze in the cell average framework that ensure stability when using nonlinear predictions and give explicit a priori bounds for any prediction operator (linear or nonlinear and supporting with providing interesting numerical examples. Proposed technique has error bounds to quantize the encoded data in order to obtain minimum nonzero ratio for a given prescribed quality. Proposed error control algorithm and quantization procedures is compared with standard algorithm and literature results.
