      The author studies the functional equation \[ F(\sigma (y)x + (1 - \sigma(y))y) = \tau (y)F(x) + (1 - \tau (y))F(y) \] for \( x, y \in \mathcal C\), \(x - y \in \mathcal C\), where \(\mathcal C\) is a convex cone in a real linear space, \(F : \mathcal C \to \mathbb R\) and \(\sigma, \tau : \mathcal C \to [0, 1]\) and generalizes the result of \textit{J. Aczél} and \textit{R. D. Luce} [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 99, No. 8, 5212--5216 (2002; Zbl 1061.39018)].
